Tips on writing historical fiction

Here are some tips about writing historical fiction

Research.
Make sure all your facts are correct. Don’t rely on only memory.

Use libraries to look up old newspapers on microfiche.

Roam the internet. Google. Visit state libraries and look up books written at the time, if any.

Once you have your setting, use it as background. Don’t flood your reader with too many details. It should merely act as the framework for your history. Less is always more.
