New insight into creating an exciting plot came to me last night watching the History of Film on SBS2.
When Lauren and Hardy, old time and very funny comedians, teeter on a swinging bridge as they try to carry a piano to the other side, the director calls: ‘What happens now?’
Seems they had a weirdo on the set they used to pay to come up with ideas. He called, ‘Bring in a gorilla.’
That changed the story entirely.
When writing fiction and trying to dream up more exciting plots, I think we also need to THINK GORILLA.
