On a personal level February has been a difficult time. However, being my normal absent minded self I had totally forgotten that I’d sent a story called DRAGGLE AND ARTHUR to The School Magazine last October. So when I opened an envelope to find a copy of BLAST OFF, with my story and cover illustrated by the wonderfully talented DAVID LEGGE I gaped in disbelief. Seems that the emailed acceptance had gone astray.

So now I have promised to try and write a sequel. My two major characters consist of Draggle, who has failed dragonhood and is unkindly known as ‘Steam’, and Arthur who is bad at fencing, jousting, and finds polishing armour boring. However this unlikely pair join ranks to overcome the Awesome Ogre by telling jokes.

I like the idea of wit overcoming force and have used this theme again in the soon to appear ‘eSide’ (FiveSenses Publications)

Needless to say, the delightful editors of The School Magazine were amused my delighted response, and we will all do our best to make sure their excellent magazines appear in every Aussie school.
